Pet Loss Grief Group
A 6-week support group for people grieving an animal, anticipating a loss, or caring for a senior or medically complex pet.
For many people, pets are family, and losing them can be one of the most painful experiences we face.
But in our society, this type of grief and loss is often misunderstood or minimized.
This group is dedicated to honoring the special bond you share with your animal, whether you've lost a pet, are anticipating a loss, or are caring for one who is senior or medically complex.
Grief can feel isolating when the people around you don't recognize how much this relationship means to you. Here, you'll connect with others who understand, in a space where your grief is named and shared rather than explained away.
What we'll explore:
Why pet loss can feel so overwhelming, and how to navigate it with care
Processing feelings around euthanasia, medical decisions, or “what ifs”
Adjusting to routines, spaces, and moments that feel different after loss
Ways to honor your pet, including rituals and practices that can help keep their memory close
The comfort of being understood by people who get it

Hi, I'm Chaucee. I'm a trauma therapist in Colorado, and I've created this group because ambiguous grief and loss are central to my work, and pet loss is personal for me. The bonds we form with animals run deep, and losing them brings grief that deserves care, whether you're watching a pet's health decline or carrying a loss the people around you don't understand.
In 2022, I founded Colorado Senior Dog Rescue and Hospice in Golden to support senior or medically fragile dogs.
My service dog, Jax, is usually close by during group sessions, and I'm training a second pup, Mama, to join me in canine-assisted therapy down the road.
